The Son is not the Father

There is a fine line between believing that "Jesus is God-in-the-flesh, come to live on earth as a man" and the fact that Y'shua was caused to exist by the Spirit of Yahweh, and was born of a chosen women. Messiah was born of Spirit and Blood (spiritual and physical). We humans have been born of water and blood (physical) but must become born again of His Spirit... do you see the pattern?

Our Creator did not choose to be born on earth in order to experience the human condition. He was well aware of man's downfall from the beginning, which is why He gave us His Spirit via His Son, Yahshua the Anointed One. The Old Testament tells us in many places of this person to come, but where does YHWH say it is Himself who will dwell on this earth? It is true that His desire is to be in the midst of His people but that's not going to happen again until after the thousand year reign of His Son on this earth.

The Father is not the Son = Y'shua is not God

The Son was caused to exist by the Father
through His Spirit
and the water and blood of a woman

The Son is not the Father = Yahweh is not the Messiah

It is by His Son's very life that one can see the glory of the Father in and through him because of YHWH's Ruach haKodesh. His Set Apart Spirit makes them as One - His righteousness is revealed in the flesh.

This same Spirit was given by Y'shua to his twelve Apostles who taught others to become prepared to receive the Ruach haKodesh through salvation, by repentance and immersion. It is this same Spirit we are made ready to receive which makes us One, same as the Father and Son are One. This does not make us gods.
1 Timothy 3:16 ~ The pillar and the foundation of truth, and truly great, is this mystery of righteousness which was revealed in the flesh and righteous in the spirit and seen by Messengers, and proclaimed among the Gentiles, and believed on in the world, and received up into glory.
Yahweh keeps us by His Name (YAH) which He gave to His Son (YAHshua) that we may be One as they are One. When we pray to YHWH in Y'shua's name we are calling on YHWH for Salvation. Y'shua pleads for us because YHWH gave us to him, those who have kept the Word of Elohim. Y'shua is the Word made flesh. As followers of Y'shua we are to walk according to his righteousness, observe the Father's Instructions and walk in the anointing of the Ruach haKodesh as Mashiyach demonstrated for us.

Now, if all this is happening, how could Y'shua possibly be 'God in the flesh'....

Father, sanctify us by your Truth, for Your Word is Truth.
His Ruach haKodesh is the Spirit of Truth.
John 16:27 ...the Father loves you because you have loved me and you have believed that I have proceeded from the presence of the Father... and have come into the world and will return to the Father.
Matthew 7:21- Not every one that says to me, 'My master, my master', shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven

What is the 'will of the Father'?
John 6:38- For I came down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of Him who sent me... John 6:40- For this is the will of my Father, that all who see the Son and believe in him, will have life that is eternal. And I will raise him up on the last day.
What is 'will'? : desire, wish

Our Creator desires we see His Son for what he is. No one is able to come to Y'shua unless the Father who sent him draws them to him. Everyone who hears and learns from the Father comes to Y'shua. This brings to mind the writings in the Tanakh (Old Testament) and the many references to Y'shua. We learn from the Father and come to understand Y'shua the Messiah in the Renewed Covenant (New Testament) with the help of the Set Apart Spirit who reveals Truth.
Mark 10:18 ~ Y'shua said Why call me good? There is no one good except Elohim.
John 10:15 ~ Just as my Father knows me and I know my Father...
29 ~ For my Father who gave them to me is greater than all ....
30 ~ I and the Father are one (one by His Spirit, not that Y'shua is God)
Recorded in the book of Matthew, even YHWH says Y'shua is His Son.
"Allow it for now as it is proper for us to fulfill all righteousness" and he was immersed and arose from the water - heaven was opened up to him. And then the Spirit of Elohim descended upon him and a voice from heaven said, "This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased."
His Spirit descended from heaven upon Y'shua, but Yah remained in heaven, from whence His voice was heard.

1 John 4:14
And we have seen and do testify that the Father has sent His Son, a Redeemer for the world. Whoever confesses Y'shua to be the Son of Elohim, Elohim abides in him and he abides in Elohim. We have believed and known the love which Elohim has towards us: Elohim is Love and whoever abides in love, abides in Elohim. His love is perfected with us so there will be nothing to hide come judgment day.

1 John 5:10
Whoever believes in the Son of Elohim has this testimony in himself. And whoever believes not, Elohim has made him a liar by not believing the testimony which Elohim has testified concerning His Son. And this is the testimony that Elohim has given to us life eternal and this life is in His Son.

Remember His Name

clip_image011.jpg (186×101)
Jeremiah 23:26 (YHWH asks)
"How long?
Is there anything in the hearts of the prophets
who prophesy falsehood,
even these prophets of the deception of their own heart,
who intend to make My people forget My name
by their dreams which they relate to one another,
just as their fathers forgot My name because of Baal?

Hebrew is read from right to left....

images.jpg (411×123)
This is the Name of our Father:
→ Y H W H
Romans 10:13- For everyone that will call on the name of Master YHWH will have life. How then will they call on him, in whom that have not believed? Or how will they believe in him of whom they have not heard? Or of whom will they hear without a preacher? how will they preach if they are not sent forth? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of the heralds of peace and of the heralds of good things."
I have learned that the alphabet of Old Hebrew (Aramaic) was derived from the Phoenician. And the Phoenician alphabet came from what is called the Proto-Sinaitic, represented by the image above. As Hebrew is read from right to left the picture reads: Yod - Heh - Waw - Heh.

This alphabet was in part derived from Egyptian hieroglyphics and adapted to the Semetic language.

As we continue to learn, and begin to remember the Name of our Creator, I quote linguist and historian Andrew G. Roth who points out:
Waw or the W sound is the more ancient pronunciation in both Hebrew and Aramaic. Later Hebrew literature leans more to the Vav or V sound. (end quote)
Pronouncing His Name as "Yah-Weh" is acceptable, if not the proper way to pronounce it, but I will not turn this into a topic of contention.  There are way too many views on this and I am happy to know that there is a Name Above All Names and we His people are finally accepting the fact and learning it.  Knowing His Name does not mean that we must learn to speak the entire Hebrew language, but I do suggest learning to recognize Hebrew idioms and poetic writings (which were lost in translations). All is helpful in gaining a better understanding when reading Scriptures.

Andrew Gabriel Roth from the Aramaic English New Testament:
YHWH is the name of the Most High Elohim. Netzari followers of Y'shua never subscribed to the Rabbinic ban against vocalizing the Name of YHWH (Yah-Weh). Neither was the pronunciation lost within Jewish culture.  When Torah was translated into Greek, observant scribes preserved the Name of YHWH by writing it with Hebrew characters in the Septuagint. Mainstream rabbinical Judaism decided that because of the sanctity of the Name and the fierce punishment for abuse and blasphemy of the Name, that they would ban the pronunciation and say "Adonai" instead of YHWH. "Adonai" was then translated into the Greek "Kurios" which was then translated into the English "Lord".  The English word "Lord" is an equivalent term for Baal.
Exodus 20:7 ... do not bring the Name of יהוה your Elohim to naught, for יהוה does not leave the one unpunished who brings His Name to naught.

What are we doing when we call our Father "Lord"? We are taking His Name in vain, replacing it with the name of a pagan god, bringing His Name to naught, to nothingness.
Hosea 13:1 When Ephraim spoke, there was trembling; he was exalted in Israel, but he incurred guilt by worshiping Baal and died.
Deuteronomy 4:4 Your eyes have seen what יהוה did at Ba‛al Pe‛or, for יהוה your Elohim has destroyed from your midst all the men who followed Ba‛al Pe‛or.

Baal was the name of the supreme god worshiped in ancient Canaan and Phoenicia. The practice of Baal worship infiltrated the life of the Israelites during the time of the Judges (Judges 3:7), became widespread in Israel during the reign of Ahab (1 Kings 16:31-33) and also affected Judah (2 Chronicles 28:1-2)

Quote from Britannica:  Although Christian scholars after the Renaissance and Reformation periods used the term Jehovah for YHWH, in the 19th and 20th centuries biblical scholars again began to use the form Yahweh. Early Christian writers, such as Clement of Alexandria in the 2nd century, had used a form like Yahweh, and this pronunciation of the tetragrammaton was never really lost. Many Greek transcriptions also indicated that YHWH should be pronounced Yahweh.
I am YHWH your Elohim who brought you out of the land of Egypt, the house of bondage: You shall have no other gods besides Me. You shall not make for yourself a sculptured image or any likeness of what is in the heavens above or on the earth below or in the waters under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them. I YHWH am your Elohim, impassioned, visiting the guilt of the parents upon the children upon the third and the fourth generations of those who reject Me, but showing kindness to the thousandth generation of those who love Me and keep My commandments. You shall not swear falsely by My Name for I will not clear one who does.
Leviticus 23:10 .... There came out among the Israelites one whose mother was Israelite - Shelomith, daughter of Dibri of the tribe of Dan - and whose father was Egyptian. A fight broke out in camp between the son and a certain Israelite. The son of the Israelite woman pronounced the Name in blasphemy and was brought to Moses and was placed in custody. YHWH told Moses to take the blasphemer outside the camp and let all who heard him lay their hands on his head, and let the whole community stone him.
There are reasons we've become unaware of His Name and Satan is the only one happy about that. If we don't know His Name we might just call upon any god.  One reason is given in Jeremiah 44:24-26 - they have been worshipping a pagan goddess while calling upon the Name of Elohim, all while they burnt incense to the Queen of Heaven.
44:24 Hear the word of YHWH, all Judeans in the land of Egypt! You and your wives have confirmed by deed what you spoke in words saying; We will fulfill the vows which we made, to burn incense to the Queen of Heaven and to pour libations to her. 26 .... none of the men of Judah in all the land of Egypt shall ever again invoke My name...
Semiramis was the Queen of Babylon. When deified she became known as the Queen of Heaven, the Babylonian goddess Ishtar.  The modern day version of this Babylonian goddess worship is the Catholic Mary mother of god worship....

His Name does not represent:  "Behold Nail Behold Hand"

That is a backwards reading of His Name some folks use to point towards the crucifixion of Y'shua. Their intentions may be good but the idea is stretching it quite a bit. It is true that the Son came in the Father's name, to do His works and both Names will be written upon the foreheads of the 144,000 first fruits of the earth when that day comes.  But lets not twist the physical in an attempt to make it fit the spiritual.

quote:
The name of the Heavenly Father is composed of four Hebrew letters. For that reason it is referred to as the Tetragrammaton. Understand that when James Strong produced his concordance, the popular view among scholars was that the name of the Heavenly Father was Jehovah. Strong and most scholars of that time were still following the error of the original English translators who had mistakenly incorporated the vowel points occurring in the Hebrew text into the transliteration. These vowel points had been added by the Masoretes to maintain their belief that the Sacred Name should not be spoken. For those fluent in Hebrew the vowel points are not necessary for reading or understanding the text. .... the same “liberties” that were taken with YHWH’s Name were also applied to the Savior’s Name in Hebrew. Because of these corrupted traditions it is necessary to disregard the vowel points when translating these names. (end quote)

Three Days and Three Nights

When was the resurrection of Y'shua?

Since the timing of Y'shua's death coincides with the Feast of Unleavened Bread, which began with a 'passover' offering, this study includes the time-line in regards to what the Creator said about His fixed times, and what is recorded in the Renewed Covenant.

There is also the general mind-set that he is 'our Passover Lamb' and the 'First Fruits of the Harvest', (these original moedim are considered 'types and shadows' of thing to come).

The original passover did include the sacrifice of a lamb, and its blood, which being painted on the door posts and lintels, was the sign that saved the inhabitants from death.

Y'shua is referred to as the Lamb of Elohim and it is his shed blood that atones for our sins and saves us from eternal death.  Y'shua is referred to as the first fruits of the dead.  ("First-fruits" are the best of the best offered up to YHWH).
John 1:29 - And on the day that followed, John saw Y'shua who was coming towards him, and said, "Behold the Lamb of Elohim"

First Corinthians 15:20 - But now the Mashiyach has risen from the dead, and become the first-fruits of them that slept.
Let us now recognize Yah's calendar:
Exodus 12"This month shall mark for you the beginning of the months; it shall be the first of the months of the year for you."
YHWH's counting of months begin with the sighting of the new moon. The first month of the year coincides with the time of year the barley ripens.
Exodus 19"On the third new moon after the Israelites had gone forth from the land of Egypt, on that very day, they entered the wilderness of Sinai." (the first day of the third month)
As a reminder, a day is from sunset to sunset according to the Creator's Calendar. And when He says the '1st month of the year', it is not according to the modern day Gregorian calendar. With that in mind, lets review Yah's instructions for keeping the passover offering which is the start of the days of Unleavened Bread.
Exodus 12:15 - Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread... on the very 1st day (of the 7 days) you shall remove leaven from your houses... The first day and the seventh day are sacred occasions and no work is to be done, only whatever is to be eaten may be prepared.
Exodus 12:17 - You shall observe the Feast of Unleavened Bread for on this very day (the 15th day of the 1st month) I brought you out of Egypt, to be observed throughout the ages as an institution for all time.
Exodus 12:18 - In the first month from the 14th day at evening you shall eat unleavened bread until the 21st day of the month at evening. No leaven is to be found in your houses - whether one is a stranger or a citizen of the country you shall eat nothing leavened.
Exodus 12:24 - You shall observe this as an institution for all time, for you and for your descendants. :25 And when you enter the land that I will give you, as I promised, you shall observe this rite... And when your children ask why and what does it mean, you shall say, 'It is the passover sacrifice to YHWH Elohim because He passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt when He smote the Egyptians, but saved our houses'.
In Leviticus the instructions are repeated:
Leviticus 23:4  - These are the set times of YHWH, the sacred occasions, which you shall celebrate each at its appointed time: In the first month, on the 14th day of the month, at twilight, there shall be a passover offering to YHWH and on the 15th day of that month YHWH's Feast of Unleavened Bread... for seven days.
And again in Deuteronomy 16 we are given the details for keeping the feast in the years to come.  It reads that a passover offering is made to YHWH and slaughtered in the place Elohim will choose to establish His Name - For 7 days no leaven shall be found among you. You cannot slaughter the sacrifice wherever you choose but at the place YHWH chooses to establish His Name. In the morning you may start back home - on the 7th day of Unleavened Bread hold a solemn gathering, do no work.

His people are instructed to do this so they remember the day of their departure from the land of Egypt as long as they live.  The blood of the lamb was a sign to YHWH and saved them from death - they were set free from being slaves to Pharaoh. Our acceptance of the shed blood of His Son is also a sign to YHWH, and sets us free from our old sin-nature.
These quotes from Scripture establish the fixed time of when we are to observe the Feast of Unleavened Bread, which begins immediately after the the twilight meal of the roasted lamb- the passover offering.  It was eaten as the daylight dwindled into twilight of the 14th day, which became the 15th day after the sun went down.
Lets fast forward now to the final days of Y'shua as they are written in Matthew 26:17, Mark 14:12, Luke 22:7 and John 13:1.  The time frame is the beginning of the Seven Days of Unleavened Bread.  The event is Y'shua gathered together with his disciples to eat the passover meal, observing the fixed time of YHWH as previously described.
In the course of this study, I have learned that it was customary back in the day to interchange the words 'passover' and 'feast of Unleavened Bread' because the passover offering kicked off the feast of Unleavened Bread.  There was only one offering followed by the 7 days of Unleavened Bread. Passover was not really a feast day unto itself but the lead-in, the actions taken just before the Seven days of Unleavened Bread.  It is mentioned in Mark 14:12 as the 'first day of Unleavened Bread was when the lambs were slaughtered'. They were slaughtered on the 14th day, eaten at sunset, according to what YHWH said about this fixed time.
  • Matthew 26:17 - Now on the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the disciples asked Y'shua where he wanted them to prepare the meal
  • Mark 14:12 - And in the first day of the Unleavened Bread in which the Yehudeans slay the (passover offering lamb) the disciples were asking Y'shua where to go to prepare to eat.
  • Luke 22:7 - And the day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread arrived... Y'shua sent Peter and John to make preparations.
  • John 13:1 - Now before the feast of the (passover) Y'shua had known that the time that he would depart this world to his Father had arrived.  He loved his own who were in this world and he loved them up until the end. :2 And when supper was done, Satan put in the heart of Judas to betray Y'shua...
Note it is written, 'when supper was done', referring to the passover meal just eaten.  It has been established that they are keeping the set time of YHWH, in the first month of the year and eat the passover meal together, at twilight, on the 14th day of the month, which has been the practice of the Israelites ever since they were set free from Egypt.

The lamb offerings for each household have been slaughtered, roasted and are eaten that evening.  John adds that Y'shua knew his time had come, knew it even before the feast of Unleavened Bread was to take place.

Moving along, after this passover meal was eaten, Y'shua and his disciples took a walk to the Mount of Olives. The sun has already gone down, so according to Yah's perfect timing, it is now the 15th day of this month (still dark), this also being the 1st day of Unleavened Bread.

While they are at the Mount of Olives, Y'shua tells them things that will happen soon according to what has been prophesied and they can't believe they could ever be offended by their Master Y'shua. He tells them there is sadness in his soul. They continue walking to the place called Gethsemane. The Apostles eventually fall asleep during the hour Y'shua is praying to his Father.

This record of events makes it possible to conclude that Y'shua was not killed during the time that the passover offering lambs were being slaughtered. Otherwise he could not have eaten with his beloved twelve.

It is still that same night, after they had arrived at Gethsemane, when Judas came back and betrayed Y'shua to the chief priests and elders. After a scuffle all the disciples left their Teacher - they ran away. Those who seized Y'shua wanted to take him to Caiaphas (Matthew 26:50-59) but they could not find him. So they take him to Pilate. This event is recorded by Matthew, Mark, Luke and John:
Matthew 27 - And when it was morning the chief priests and elders took Y'shua to Pilate, who tries to argue for his life as he finds no guilt with him. Pilate realizes the accusers of Y'shua do so out of envy.  The angry mob wins.  Y'shua is scourged with whips and delivered to be put to death on a stake. He dies around the 9th hour.
Mark 14:53 - Then they took Y'shua to Caiaphas the high priest (but they could not find him) and the chief priests and scribes and elders were all gathered with him. 55 The chief priests and all their assembly were seeking testimony against Y'shua so that they might kill him.
Mark 15 - And immediately in the morning the chief priests with the elders and with the scribes, all of the assembly took counsel and they bound Y'shua and led him away and delivered him to Pilate.
Mark 15:15 - And Pilate desired to do the will of the crowds and released Bar Abba to them. Then after Y'shua was scourged, he delivered him to be executed on a stake.
Luke 22:54 - Then they seized him and brought him to the house of the high priest. 66 When the day dawned, the elders and the chief priests and scribes gathered and took him to their council chambers (and questioned him).
In Luke 23:6 he reports that Pilate sent Y'shua to Herod because Y'shua was from Galilee.  Herod was in Jerusalem in those days.  Herod questions Y'shua but gets no answers, gives him back to Pilate to deal with.
Luke 23:13 - Pilate calls to the chief priests and rulers of the people and says to them: You brought me this man as a deceiver of your people - I have examined him and have not found any fault with him 15 nor has Herod... nothing that is worthy of death has been committed by him.
Pilate desired to let Y'shua go but the people were crying out and saying 'Nail him to the stake!'

In John 18:28 the account is about the same, although some details are added that are not reported by the other three.  Pilate tells the mob to take Y'shua and judge him according to 'their own' Torah and the Yehudeans reply, 'it is not lawful for us to kill a man'.

In John 19 Y'shua is scourged and mocked. At about the 6th hour Pilate turned him over to be executed.  Matthew says Y'shua died about the 9th hour. (The 6th hour is equivalent to mid-day).
Note: The passover meal was eaten at twilight of of the 14th day. After the sun went down it became the 15th day. The 9th hour is of that 15th day.
If we can agree that the capture, persecution and death of Y'shua occurred during the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread (which is the 15th day of the month), then following is the account of what happened before that day ended, after he died. You will see that we run into statements that just don't jive with the above established scenario.  If we could just stick with Matthew, all would be well. Let's carry on...

Matthew 27:57 - Now when it became evening, a rich man from Ramtha whose name was Joseph, who had been taught by Y'shua, asked Pilate for the body of Y'shua.  And he wrapped it in a shroud of fine linen and laid it in his new tomb.
Mark 15:37 - Y'shua cried out in a loud voice, and he died. 42 And when it became evening which is before the annual Shabbat, Joseph from Ramtha requested the body of Y'shua. He wrapped the body in linen cloth and placed him in a grave hewn out of the rock... and he rolled a stone upon the door of the grave.
Luke 23:50 - Joseph the counselor from Ramtha asks Pilate for the body of Y'shua, took it down and wrapped it in a shroud of linen and laid it in a hewn tomb.  And the day was setting and the Shabbat was approaching.

John 19:14 - And it was the eve of the paskha (translated 'passover' in most bibles, others read 'day of preparation') and it was about the sixth hour and he said to the Yehudeans: Behold, your King!"  (Matthew 27 says Y'shua died around the 9th hour.)

How can it be the 'eve of the passover' or even the day of preparation when Matthew, Mark and Luke claim they prepared and ate it already?  They ate, walked to the Mount of Olives, then on to Gethsemane where Y'shua spends time in the garden before he is betrayed by Judas.  He is taken captive and by the following daylight, taken before Pilate.  Pilate takes him before Herod.  Herod turns the matter back to Pilate.  Y'shua is sentenced to death. The 15th Day of the 1st month is a 'sacred occasion' according to YHWH, the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, a Shabbat. Both the 1st and 7th days of the days of Unleavened Bread are considered Annual Shabbats.

What on earth am I missing? Could it be 'terminology'? Could it mean I need to learn the ways of the Pharisees of Y'shua's day in order to figure this out and make all pieces fit?  Were they referring to the 15th day as a day of preparation or the 20th day?  My brain in hurting...
Quote from Andrew Gabriel Roth: Technically speaking a "day of preparation" is normally supposed to be the daylight period before a weekly sabbath.  However, when Annual and Weekly Shabbats hit as close together as they do here, this kind of distinction can easily go right out the proverbial window along with any clarity it might have also had. The fact of the matter is, we are not dealing with one preparation day in a week here, but three.
Y'shua ate with his disciples and their fellowship lasted well into the night - which became the 15th day which is when Y'shua was charged and sentenced to death (when day broke) according to Scripture.  This 15th day is the 1st day of Unleavened Bread - a Sabbath, which falls after the regular weekly Sabbath.  So this Sabbath on the 15th is one of the Annual Sabbaths referred to in Mark 15:42 as mentioned by Andrew G. Roth.

Taking all that into consideration, Y'shua was placed in the tomb before sunset- but when?  Can nobody know the day and the hour?

IF he was placed in the tomb before sunset on the 15th day (the day was setting), he was resurrected on the completion of the 18th day, which is 2 days before the next Annual Sabbath, the last day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread (which also falls on the regular sabbath day of rest). This can account for the tomb being empty when the ladies arrived with spices to tend to his body.

The next Set Apart time is Shavuot.
Acts 1:3With numerous signs for 40 days he was seen by them, and he spoke concerning the Kingdom of Elohim... 4 And while he ate with them, he commanded that "You should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, He whom you have heard about from me. 5 John immersed with water, and you will be immersed by the Ruach haKodesh When the Ruach haKodesh comes upon you you will receive power and you will be witnesses for me in Jerusalem and in all Yehuda and also among the Samaritan and to the ends of the earth."  After these things he was taken up and a cloud received him and he was hidden from their eyes.
Ten days later was Shavuot (the 50th day) - all were assembled as one and the Twelve did receive power and understanding by the Spirit of Elohim = the Ruach haKodesh.

Shavuot is the when the grain offering of the wheat harvest is made and also the date when the Ruach haKodesh immersed the disciples, as Y'shua told them he would.  AGAIN, Shavuot depends on the barley being ripe for harvest - which can be a day or two off each year -- and not pre-printed on any calendar.

I feel there is more to be revealed in the study, but I shall publish it for now. Please feel free to add your comments.

The short story is this:

  • On the 14th day at twilight, they ate the passover meal together.
  • They walked to the Mount of Olives together and then on to Gesthsemane.
  • The disciples fell asleep while Y'shua was praying.
  • Judas led the crowd to find Y'shua and he is taken captive.
  • This is now the 15th day which is the 1st day of Unleavened Bread. Later this day Y'shua is sentenced to death.

If we ignore the supposed discrepancies in the above mentioned accounts, then "Three days and three nights" buried would mean being resurrected by the 4th day, after the completion of the 3rd night.  If we adhere to Yah's calendar, Y'shua is 'buried' before sunset on the 15th day. Resurrection would be after sunset on the 18th day of this first month, the beginning of the 19th day... two days before the last day of the feast of Unleavened Bread, which falls on the weekly sabbath, the 21st day of this month.

In everything we discuss and study we must remain
firmly footed in His Word and Truth will be revealed.
YHWH set forth His Instructions for His Creation, which includes us.  We can read all about it in Genesis through Deuteronomy where He establishes Himself as the One True Living God. If we continue reading Scriptures we learn about what happens if we choose to do as He says.  He gives examples of what happens to people who turn their backs on Him.  In reading His Instruction Manual we either choose to have Faith or make excuses not to believe. In choosing Faith and having Trust in our Creator we naturally desire to obey and show our love and gain acceptance.  His Will Be Done - not ours.

The Covenant Renewed

In a discussion about those who think the New Testament is not part of Scriptures, I was asked to find in just the Old Testament (Tanakh) any place where Yah said He had a son. This is challenging because the New Testament (Renewed Covenant) answers each point I have found in the Old Testament.

If we read just the Tanakh and ignore the Renewed Covenant, we are left with many unanswered questions which leave us open to speculation. The same goes for reading the NT only- if one doesn't know the circumstances, rules and regulations spoken of in the OT much of the NT writings won't make sense. It is what's referred to as 'types and shadows' of thing to come. Just as Yahweh gave the pattern of the Tabernacle to Moses, we have the pattern to understand the renewed covenant writings.

In the course of this study I have found Scriptures to be one whole book, and that it truly does interpret itself- it just takes effort on our behalf.

Yahweh used Nathan to speak to David:

2 Samuel 7:12- and when your days are done, I will raise up your offspring after you, one of you own issue (Solomon), and I will establish his kingship. He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish his royal throne forever. I will be a father to him and he shall be a son to me.

This is part of David's reply to Yahweh:
7:23- And who is like Your people Israel, a unique nation on earth, whom Yahweh redeemed as His people, winning renown for Himself and doing great and marvelous deeds for them and for Your land- driving out nations and their gods before Your people, whom You redeemed for Yourself from Egypt. You have established Your very own people forever and You, Yahweh, have become their Elohim.

Psalm 2:6- "But I have installed My king on Zion, My holy mountain!" Let me tell of the decree: Yahweh said to me,
"You are My son, I have fathered you this day."

2:11- Serve Yahweh in awe; tremble with fright, pay homage in good faith, lest He be angered, and your way be doomed in the mere flash of His anger. Happy are all who take refuge in Him.

Proverbs 30:4- Who has ascended heaven and come down? Who has gathered up the wind in the hollow of his hand? Who has wrapped the waters in his garment? Who has established all the extremities of the earth? What is His Name or His son's name, if you know it? Every word of Yahweh is pure, a shield to those who take refuge in Him. Do not add to His words, lest He indict you and you be proved a liar.

Isaiah 7:14- Assuredly, Yahweh Elohim will give you a sign of His own accord! Look, the young woman is with child and about to give birth to a son. Let her name him Immanuel. (this prophecy was given about 700 years before Y'shua was born)

Isaiah 9:5- For a child has been born to us, a son has been given us.  And authority has settled on his shoulders. He has been named "The Mighty Elohim is planning grace; the Eternal Father, a peaceable ruler" - In token of abundant authority and of peace without limit upon David's throne and kingdom, that it may be firmly established in justice and in equity now and evermore.

Hosea 11:1- I fell in love with Israel when he was still a child; and I have called him My son ever since Egypt. Thus were they called (out of Egypt), but they went their own way; they sacrificed to Baalim.

Micah 5:1- And you, O Bethlehem of Ephrath, least among the clans of Judah, from you one shall come forth to rule Israel for Me- one whose origin is of old, from ancient times. Truly, he will leave them helpless until she who is bear has borne, then the rest of his countrymen shall return to the children of Israel. He shall stand and shepherd by the might of Yahweh, by the power of the Name 'Yahweh' his Elohim

These Scripture quotes point towards a future event, something we cannot realize until we read the Renewed Covenant (NT). Now we can connect the dots between what was, what is and what is to come.

Who's Who?

This study points out what Y'shua the Mashiyach said about himself, the Son of Elohim, in order to clear up the popular belief that people think "Jesus is God".

Scripture quotes are from the Aramaic English New Testament. Some are lightly paraphrased by me.  I usually tag each chapter and verse so you know where to start reading, and always expect you take what you learn back to Scripture to study it for yourself.

Recorded in the book of Matthew, even Yahweh says Y'shua is His Son.
"Allow it for now as it is proper for us to fulfill all righteousness" and he was immersed and arose from the water - heaven was opened up to him.  And then the Spirit of Elohim descended upon him and a voice from heaven said, "This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased."
The Ruach haKodesh took Y'shua to the desert to be tempted by the Accuser. Even Satan refers to him as the Son of Elohim when he tests Y'shua by saying:
If you are the son of Elohim:
  • say to these rocks 'become bread'
  • throw yourself off the edge of the temple
  • bow down and worship me
The Son of Yahweh Elohim replies, quoting from Torah:
  • It is written that the Son of man does not live by bread alone, but by all the Words that proceed from the mouth of Elohim (Deuteronomy 8:3)
  • do not test Master YHWH your Elohim (Deuteronomy 6:16)
  • Leave enemy, for it is written that you will worship Master YHWH your Elohim and Him alone will you serve (Deuteronomy 6:13)
Satan departs, Y'shua leaves Nazareth and dwells in Capurnakhum, on the side of the sea by the border of Zebulon and Naptali.  From then he began to preach and to teach repentance and he preached the Hope of the Kingdom of Heaven.
Everyone who takes hold of the Son takes hold of life - those who don't will not know eternal life.
Mark 1:1
The beginning of the Good News of Y'shua the Anointed One, the Son of Elohim
Matthew 27:43
He put his trust in Elohim, let Him save him now if He is please with him. For he (Y'shua) said that, I am the Son of Elohim.
John 20:31
Indeed, these things are but written that you might believe that Y'shua is the Anointed One, the Son of Elohim, and when you believe you might have in his name life that is eternal.
Romans 1:4
And was made known as the Son of Elohim by power and by the Ruach haKodesh, who arose from the dead, Y'shua the Mashiyach, our Master.
2 Corinthians 1:19
For the Son of Elohim, Y'shua the Mashiyach, was not 'yes and no' but it was 'yes' in him; for all the promises of Elohim, in Y'shua, are 'yes, for which cause we - through Y'shua - give our Amen to the glory of Elohim.

Ephesians 4:13 - Until we all become one and the same, in faith and in the knowledge of the Son of Elohim, and one complete man according to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Mashiyach: and that we might not be children uprooted and turned about by every direction of wind by the wrong doctrines of men who plot to seduce by their cunning: but that we might be established in our love and that every thing in us might progress in Y'shua the Anointed One who is the head: and from him the whole body is framed together and strongly melded by all the connecting points, according to the gift that is delivered by measure to each member for the growth of the body, that his structure may be perfected in love.  We do not walk as the other Gentiles who walk in the vanity of their mind, and they are dark in their understandings and are alienated from the life of Elohim because this knowledge is not in them, and because of the blindness of their heart they have cut off their hope and have given themselves over to lust and to the practice of all uncleanness in their greed.  You have not learned this from Y'shua if you have truly heard him, and by him have learned, as the truth is in Y'shua.

I must conclude, after reading these statements recorded throughout Scriptures, that Yahshua is not "God" - he is the Son of our Elohim, whose name is Yahweh.

On the other hand.....
The Spirit of Yahweh caused an ovum of Maryam to become fertilized, so Y'shua is born of the Spirit but also of water (amniotic fluid).  The glory of Elohim is seen, recognized, noticed within the person of Y'shua, who came to do the will of the Father.

1 John 4:1
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from Yah. For many false prophets have gone out into the world.  This is how you will know the Spirit of Yah: Every spirit that confesses that Y'shua has come in the flesh is from Yah,  and every spirit that does not confess Y'shua is not from Yah. This is the spirit of the anti-messiah, which you have heard is coming, and is already in the world at this time.…

The Spirit of Y'shua dwells inside a person - this refers to the spirit of man being born from the beginning into the image of Elohim, which is evidenced by living a Set Apart life unto YHWH, having His Instructions written upon the heart and growing in the attributes of Y'shua, which we read about in:
Isaiah 11 - A shoot shall grow out of the stump of Jesse, a twig shall sprout from his stock. The spirit of Yahweh shall alight upon him:
A Spirit of wisdom and insight; counsel and valor; devotion and reverence for YHWH; he shall have a sense of Truth by his reverence for YHWH...

This Spirit is what makes us One as they are One - the Spiritual realm yet to come.

Yahshua is Not God but is the vessel that contains the Spirit of Elohim.

The Name above All Names

I am not a Hebrew scholar nor a linguist
or much of an expert on anything.
I am, however, a follower of Y'shua and read Scriptures
almost every day.
I am a believer in the one true Elohim, our heavenly Father,
the Creator.
It was over fifteen years ago that I learned He had a Name,
Yahweh (YHWH).
(I always thought His Name was 'God').
Then I learned His son's name isn't 'Jesus' but is Yahshua (Y'shua).

I know there are many discussions out there in cyber-land and elsewhere debating the 'spelling of' and 'pronunciation of' these Names. I do not disregard their studies and research but I prefer not to let this be a matter of contention which blinds us to the fact that there is a Name above all names. In my studies and keeping the ancient Hebrew texts in mind, I have come to respectfully call the Father and His Son by their names: Yahweh (YHWH) and Yahshua (Y'shua).

Philippians 2:9
Elohim has highly exalted him and given him a name which is more excellent than all names, that at the name of Y'shua every knee should bow, of beings in heaven and on earth and under the earth and that every tongue should confess that Master YHWH is Y'shua Mashiyach to the glory of Elohim his father.

I agree with Andrew G. Roth when he states:

Y'shua reveals the Name of YHWH, the Name above all names! Y'shua has the Name and the reputation of the Father YHWH within him. Y'shua means 'YHWH is salvation' therefore the Will and Spirit of Yah-weh is manifest in Yah-shua as the Arm of YHWH.

Isaiah 52:10  YHWH will bare His arm in the sight of all the nations, and the very ends of the earth shall see the victory of our Elohim
Isaiah 52:13  Behold, My servant will prosper, he will be high and lifted up and greatly exalted.
Daniel 7:14  And to him was given dominion, glory and a kingdom, that all the peoples, nations and men of every language might serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion which will not pass away; and His kingdom is one which will not be destroyed.
John 17:11  I will no longer be in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to You, Kadosh Father, protect them by Your name, the name You gave me, so that they may be one as We are one.
John 17:12  While I was with them, I protected them and guarded them by Your Name, the name You gave me.
Psalm 80:18   Grant Your help to the man at Your right hand, the stem You have taken as Your own.  We will not turn away from You; preserve our life that we may invoke Your Name. O Yahweh Elohim of hosts, restore us; show us Your favor that we may be delivered.

Substitutes

Another thought to ponder by Dusty Sandals

Why substitute turkey bacon for real bacon?
Why substitute imitation crab for real crab?
If we are instructed by our Creator
not to eat it
why would we want to fake it?
Why don't we just trust Him?
Is this a test of our Faith?

==v==v==v==

I've been there, done this and ate that until I realized I didn't need to make something up to replace what Yah had already put in place. Oh, sure, now 'science' has proven pork is not good for human consumption, but why didn't we just obey Yah's instructions in the first place?

This may be a stretch, but it's what is playing out in my mind:

The 'golden calf' Incidents
They substituted a gold statue of a calf in place of YHWH. (Exodus 32:3)
Jeroboam had temples built in Dan and Bethel while the temple in Jerusalem was still standing. In them were placed golden calves to be worshiped and he convinced the people that they didn't need to go to the temple in Jerusalem to worship Elohim. (1 Kings 12:25)
These are just a couple of examples of man taking things into his own hands for his own perceived good - instead of trusting and loving the one true Elohim and faithfully obeying His Instructions. Scriptures are a record of historical events that took place which we are to learn from so as not to make the same mistakes as our ancestors.

“Now these things happened to them as an example, but they were written down for our instruction, on whom the end of the ages has come” (1 Cor 10: 11)

Even religions have become substitutes for the Truth of His Word. Oh, it may sound like Scriptures and taste a bit like Scriptures, but its not... don't be offering strange fire thinking you are pleasing Yah.

There is no substitute for YHWH
or His Instructions

Back to the topic of foods He said we could eat and those we should abstain from - trust Him to know what He's talking about - He created us and knows what we need for our health and well being.  He gave us an Owner's Manual and most folks try everything their own way before giving in and reading the Instructions.

If you did not know, here is what Yah says we can eat and should not eat, as written in Leviticus and Deuteronomy:

Animals with true hoofs (hoofs with clefts through the hoofs) AND chew the cud. The examples given for what not to eat are the camel, daman, and hare which chew the cud but do not have true hoofs. The swine has true hoofs but does not chew the cud - these are considered 'unclean'. It is alright to eat: ox, sheep, goat (domestic or wild), deer, gazelle, roebuck, ibex, antelope, mountain sheep and any other animal that has true hoofs which are cleft in two and brings up the cud: buffalo, elk, moose and beef.

Of the things that live in water, we may eat them as long as they have both fins and scales. This excludes from our menu such popular items as clams, lobster, oysters, mussels, squid and shrimp. This also excludes scallops, shark, whale, octopus, eel, swordfish and sturgeon.

I am of the mind that if you cannot see the scales on the fish without the use of a microscope then consider that particular fish unclean. Halibut, for example, have tiny scales naked to the human eye so they appear to us as not having scales... they should not be eaten. YHWH put forth His Instructions to benefit our health and well being. They didn't have microscopes or other testing equipment back then - they trusted Him - as we should in this day and age.
Birds that are not to be eaten: eagle, vulture, kite, falcons, ravens, ostrich, nighthawk, sea gulls, any hawk, owl, cormorant, pelican, bustard, stork, herons, hoopoe and bats.

It's OK to eat winged swarming things that walk on all fours and have jointed legs above their feet (hoppers) as in locust, crickets and grasshoppers.

Any animal that walks on paws, on all fours, are not on the menu. No variety of cat or canine is to be eaten. Also, we are not to eat: moles, mice, lizards of every variety or crocodiles.

We have been given every seed bearing fruit to eat and of grains of the field. Modern day 'seedless' varieties should not be eaten. I gave up one of my favorites: seedless watermelon! All genetically modified foods are off the list of things that can be eaten. They have been tampered with by man.

With all that said, in today's world the majority of our food sources have become corrupt, so sticking to Yahweh's Plan becomes even more challenging. Letting the land rest every 7th year is not being followed so over the years farming has depleted the nutritional value of the land. The food it produces is lacking in vitamins and minerals and what is being added (supplements) isn't nearly enough. I've read that almost all corn is now genetically modified. Seeds have been engineered that produce food that does not 'go to seed'. There are hybrid foods such as beets, carrots and potatoes as well as seedless varieties of apples, bananas, dates, pineapple and grapes. There is an evil plan behind this but that will have to be a study unto itself later on.

It is always easier to go with the flow than to come out of tradition, habits and falsehoods.  When the Hebrews along with the mixed multitude were set free from Pharaoh and their life of slavery in Egypt and began their journey towards the Promised Land, even they began to long for the conveniences they had in Egypt and were ready to give up their freedom to go back to the way they were.

Numbers 11:5 ~ We remember the fish which we used to eat free in Egypt, the cucumbers and the melons and the leeks and the onions and the garlic, but now our appetite is gone. There is nothing at all to look at except this manna…

(Remember when we use to eat bacon & shrimp & crab? beefalo? seedless grapes & watermelon? pork chops and applesauce? Now that we know these are not of Yah's menu there's nothing tasty to eat. I know! Let's create something that tastes like pork but isn't really pork! Let's pretend!)

Ezekiel 20:21 ~ But the children rebelled against Me; they did not walk in My statutes, nor were they careful to observe My ordinances, by which, if a man observes them, he will live; they profaned My sabbaths. So I resolved to pour out My wrath on them, to accomplish My anger against them in the wilderness.
And for what purpose?
Deuteronomy 8:2 ~ You shall remember all the way which YHWH your Elohim has led you in the wilderness these forty years, that He might humble you, testing you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.
Here is an edited quote from commentary by Matthew Henry:
They were tired of the food provision Yah had made for them. It cost them no money, and it took little work to gather the manna, yet they talked of Egypt, and the fish they ate there freely; as if that cost nothing, when in reality they paid dearly for it with a life of hard labor! They could not be satisfied unless they had meat to eat. It is evidence of the dominion of the carnal mind when we want to have the "delights and satisfaction of sense". We should not desire the things YHWH did not allow for us.  (end quote)

Look at ourselves today seeking the 'king's dainties' as we disregard the provisions made for us by our Creator.  I realize that the day will come when He restores all things, but I would rather be on the right track now in preparation for the times to come in the meantime.  Food is an idol for some and others make a living off it. I am not against collecting recipes but turning food into a form of art is elevating it way beyond its intended use for us. And pretending we're eating bacon is just wrong. There was just one tree off-limits to Adam and Eve and look what happened. Same thing is happening now.

Stop doubting the Word of Elohim. Take His Instructions seriously and live by them. Coming out of Egypt wasn't the end of something, it was the beginning.  For each one of us who heed the call to come out of the world system it is a beginning - the start of something new and wonderful in the Name of our Creator.  Don't hesitate to do what is right in His Eyes.
